From the Septuagint to Artscroll, the impact of translation upon theology is undeniable. In this workshop/talk, David Solomon will discuss some of the challenges and pitfalls facing those translating sacred Jewish literature today - from Tanakh to 21st century texts - into English; and the audience will be invited to participate in an exercise of translation to illustrate a number of points. This talk will be informative for anyone interested in the topic, though it will assume knowledge of some basic Hebrew.
