Danielle acts, taking on a variety of autobiographical personae ranging from her African-American grandmother from Harlem to her Jewish grandfather, a ballroom dance teacher and tummler. Her embodiments of family members elicit family memories, and challenge social anxieties about mixing race, religion, culture and gender.
